Illuminate: Boston
Transported’s annual Boston Illuminate Festival is returning!
Now in its fifth year, Illuminate is a light puppet parade commemorating Boston’s connection to the Pilgrim story.
This year’s theme is the sea that the pilgrims travelled on their epic journey.
Lead artist Ruth Pigott has been working with schools and the local community in workshops to create their own puppets and be a part of the procession. The community sessions are free and open to the public, and have ben taking place in November 2019.
Ruth takes inspiration from illustrated 17th-century sea maps and sea creatures. Expect to see angler fish, jellyfish, octopus, mermaids and maybe even a sea monster or two!
This year’s festival will feature a spectacular light projection and fire garden. Alongside Illuminate, the beautiful market place will host live performances, a Christmas Market and the Christmas lights switch-on.
