The pilgrims trail boards are now available in audio format!
Around North Nottinghamshire and Gainsborough, there are 8 pilgrims trail boards that give fantastic information on the story of the pilgrims and where it all began. We were delighted to work with volunteers, which means these podcasts are voiced by local people, perhaps featuring the accents the pilgrims brought to America!
The trail boards are located at Retford, Babworth, Scrooby, Austerfield, Sturton-le-steeple and Gainsborough. Download the audio files to take a virtual journey to the Pilgrim Roots region, or listen to them as you go to enhance a trip around the sites. The new audio element of the trail is an opportunity to enrich your experience while you enjoy the local scenery and history, and hear about the radical dissenters from our area, before they became the Mayflower Pilgrims.
The podcasts are also designed to support visitors who may not be able to engage with the trail boards’ text, offering the stories from our region in another format. Each audio podcast is around 6 minutes long, features several distinct voices, and is available at pilgrimroots.co.uk/pilgrim-trail/
